Ryanair has chosen Rimini for a new operational base. Starting in summer 2027, the Irish carrier will station two aircraft at Federico Fellini airport, with an announced investment of $200 million.
The plan includes 17 routes and 114 flights a week, with five new destinations: Dublin, Memmingen, Stockholm, Tirana and Warsaw.
The move comes after the regional abolition of the Council Tax, the levy on airport passengers. According to Ryanair, the new base will help support more than 500 local jobs and boost tourist arrivals in Emilia-Romagna.
“This record investment and Ryanair’s growth in Rimini demonstrate our long-term commitment to promoting traffic, tourism and economic growth across Emilia-Romagna,” said CEO Eddie Wilson.
Airiminum also welcomed the news. For chief executive Leonardo Corbucci, the opening of the base marks a historic milestone for Rimini’s airport.
After a 2026 expected to close with passenger numbers up by around 50%, the goal for 2027 is to surpass the traffic record set in 2011.
