Revolut back online, but app still sluggish. Google: «Services are coming back»

After nearly seven hours of disruption, Revolut's app is working again, though still slow. Google Cloud confirms most London-region services are being restored.

Revolut is coming back online.

After nearly seven hours of disruption, the app is opening again, although it remains very slow.

And most importantly, money is moving again: our editorial team carried out and received bank transfers just a short while ago, on two different accounts, including a Revolut Business account.

Both went through successfully.

Confirmation that the worst is over comes from Google.

On its official service status page, Google Cloud states that as of 2:10 pm Italian time, most services in its London region are coming back online. It was there that, this morning at 8:08 am, a power failure knocked out part of its servers — servers that also run numerous banking apps.

Things are not fully back to normal yet. Google warns that the affected part of its infrastructure remains down, and that some services in the London region may still show errors or intermittent network issues. The next update is expected at 4:00 pm. This is why Revolut’s app is, for now, running slowly.

This morning, Revolut responded to Insider with an official statement: «We confirm that all of our customers’ money and data are safe». The bank promised us a new statement once the issue is fully resolved.

So far, it has not arrived.

What to do now if you have a Revolut account.

Be patient: with the service running this slowly, a transaction can take much longer than usual. Before repeating a payment or transfer, check your transaction history to see if the first one went through, so you don’t end up paying twice. If you notice a charge that doesn’t add up, report it through the app’s chat, which is the official support channel.

And keep being wary of fake messages.

Right now, fraudulent texts and emails are circulating, promising to «unlock» your account or compensate you for the disruption. No bank ever asks for codes, passwords or card details via message.

Today’s outage did not affect only Revolut: this morning in the United Kingdom, Lloyds and HSBC also experienced problems.

Insider will update this article as soon as Revolut confirms that service has fully returned to normal.
