The security measures planned for Rallylegend 2026 and their impact on economic activities were the focus of meetings between the State Secretariats for Internal Affairs and for Industry, Trade and Sport, and trade associations USOT and USC. The talks, requested by the two associations, led to an agreement: operators will take part directly in the post-event evaluation table, in order to gather feedback and discuss possible improvements for future editions.
During the meetings, the purposes and practical application of the measures were examined in detail. The associations confirmed they share the security objectives, while also highlighting the concerns of the businesses involved.
“USOT and USC reiterated their full support for the security objectives linked to an event that draws tens of thousands of people every year, and brought to the attention of the State Secretariats a number of considerations regarding the impact on the economic operators concerned of the measures set out in Decree-Law no. 147 of 30 September 2026,” the joint statement reads.
The statement does not go into detail about the concerns raised, nor does it announce any changes to the measures for this year’s edition. The shared priority remains people’s safety, alongside the need to strengthen dialogue between institutions, organisers and trade associations.
“The parties agreed on the need to put people’s safety first, as an essential condition for the smooth and peaceful running of the event, in the understanding that this goal can best be achieved through constant dialogue and ever closer cooperation between institutions, organisers and economic associations,” the statement notes.
The agreement provides for the associations’ involvement in the review that is traditionally held once Rallylegend has ended. The table will also be open to other interested trade associations.
“With this in mind, it was agreed that, as part of the debriefing usually carried out after Rallylegend, USOT and USC will be directly involved in the discussion, together with any other economic categories wishing to take part in the table,” the parties announced.
Another issue concerns the possibility of learning about the measures well in advance, so as to allow businesses to plan their activities and any investments linked to the event.
“In this respect, shared planning carried out sufficiently in advance — including with regard to defining and communicating the measures to be adopted — can help ensure better organisation of the event and allow economic operators to plan their activities and assess potential investments linked to it in good time, contributing to the quality of the offer and to making the most of its benefits for the local area,” the statement reads.
The follow-up discussion after the event will therefore serve to listen to operators’ needs, gather input and consider possible improvements. The goal set out by the State Secretariats, the Unione Sammarinese Operatori del Turismo (USOT) and the Unione Sammarinese Commercio e Turismo (USC) is to reconcile security requirements with the needs of San Marino’s economic and tourism sector.
