Folgore won the big match of matchday eight in the San Marino championship and stretched their lead at the top of the table. Ricci’s side beat Virtus 2-0, inflicting the neroverdi’s first defeat of the season and opening up a three-point gap over their direct rivals.
At Montecchio, in rain and fog, it was Virtus who started brighter, hitting the crossbar with Badalassi and coming close to taking the lead with Buonocunto, who was denied by De Angelis.
Folgore, however, struck in the 29th minute with a free kick from Azael Garcia Rufer. Virtus thought they had equalised through Madonna, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
In the second half, Pancotti doubled the lead — his fifth goal in the last four matches — sealing the win and consolidating the Falciano side’s position at the top.
La Fiorita claimed their second consecutive win, beating Cosmos 2-1 to draw level with them in fourth place. The visitors went ahead after just four minutes through Cremonini, who extended his lead at the top of the scoring charts with seven goals, but Jacopo Semprini equalised immediately.
It was Semprini again who decided the match in the second half, completing his personal brace from a corner-kick move. The result ended Cosmos’ run of five straight victories.
Domagnano also returned to winning ways, beating Faetano 2-0 after more than two months without a victory. Michelucci opened the scoring, while Menini added the second late on. Faetano were left to rue their luck, hitting the woodwork twice through Renzi. Domagnano move up to seventh place.
Juvenes Dogana also picked up an important three points, winning 1-0 against Pennarossa. The match was settled by a Merli free kick near the end of the first half — Fabbri’s side’s first win since the opening matchday.
