One of the two young men struck down while standing on a sidewalk in Fiorina on Saturday, October 10, is an employee of Eudinamis Srl, a company based in Santarcangelo di Romagna. The news was confirmed by the company itself, which in a statement expressed concern for the condition of the injured and called for stronger controls on road safety during high-profile events.
“One of the two young men struck down while standing on the sidewalk is one of our employees, who holds a position of responsibility within the company. He is currently hospitalized with multiple traumas and remains in a guarded condition. The other young man involved, his friend, is unfortunately in extremely critical condition and his life is still at risk.” The company extended its thoughts to both young men and their families, stressing that any professional implications of the incident are secondary compared to the health and lives of those involved.
The company also addressed the issue of precautionary measures, emphasizing its respect for the ongoing investigation and the presumption of innocence. “We have deep respect for the work of the competent authorities, for the investigation underway and for the principle of presumption of innocence, but we also believe it is legitimate to ask whether the precautionary measures adopted are adequate, and whether it would be appropriate to consider any steps necessary to protect public safety, while responsibilities are being fully established.” The statement also calls for justice to proceed “with the necessary rigor and timeliness, given the severity of the consequences suffered by the victims.”
In its statement, Eudinamis also underlined the need to strengthen prevention and controls, referring to the various incidents that occurred during the days of the event the two young men were attending as spectators. “A motorsport event must remain an occasion for entertainment, not turn into a context in which someone feels entitled to engage in reckless or dangerous behavior on roads open to traffic.” The appeal also extends to those who drive high-performance cars outside of official competitions: “The use of large-engine vehicles, whether sports cars or not, including by individuals unconnected to official competitions, requires responsibility and strict compliance with traffic regulations. Public roads cannot and must not become an extension of race tracks.”
The appeal is addressed to institutions, law enforcement, event organizers, and all those who take part in or attend such events, calling for greater vigilance, caution and respect for the rules. “It is unacceptable that two people who were standing on a sidewalk — and therefore presumably safe — are now fighting for their health and their lives.”
Finally, Eudinamis announced that it will consider possible legal action: “Eudinamis also reserves the right to evaluate any appropriate legal initiative before the competent authorities, including the possibility of joining the proceedings as a civil party, with the aim of offering concrete support to those involved and their families.”
