RETE launches political study evenings with focus on the new right

A new series of public talks aims to explore political and current affairs topics beyond everyday party debate, starting with an analysis of the rise of the new right.

A series of meetings designed to explore political and current affairs topics, moving beyond the everyday back-and-forth between parties. On Wednesday, 7 October, RETE will launch a new cycle of political study evenings, open to the public and dedicated to historical, ideological and institutional questions.

The first event, titled “The new right’s assault on democracy” (“Le nuove destre all’attacco della democrazia”), will feature Dalmazio Rossi, a historian and philosopher from Rimini, as guest speaker. The meeting will take place at 9pm at RETE’s headquarters in Murata, via Trasmundo da Fano 4.

The evening will focus in particular on the rise of the new right in the United States, examined from both a historical and political perspective. According to the format proposed by the organizers, the discussion will also address the possible consequences for democracy and international law in Europe and the wider Western world.

Rather than a traditional academic lecture, the event will take the form of an open conversation, with room for questions and contributions from the audience. Rossi will retrace key historical moments and offer an in-depth look at the figures and movements shaping today’s political landscape.

The initiative stems from RETE’s aim to narrow the gap between politics and citizens, through educational and discussion opportunities centered on broader themes than those typically found in San Marino’s day-to-day political debate.
