She discovered the burglary only upon returning home: cash, gold and watches worth at least €300,000 had vanished from the property. The victim of the raid, which took place a few weeks ago in the Covignano area of Rimini, is a lawyer.
According to initial reconstructions, the burglars were at least two in number. They are believed to have opened the front door — which was closed but not double-locked — without leaving any obvious signs of forced entry. The house had no alarm system installed.
Following an inspection by the forensic police (Scientifica), the investigation has been handed over to the Flying Squad (Squadra Mobile), which is working to reconstruct the timing and methods of the break-in. Investigators face an added complication: the absence of any useful surveillance cameras in the immediate vicinity.
Detectives are also checking for possible links to similar incidents that have occurred elsewhere in the city. They have not ruled out the possibility that the culprits had been observing the professional’s habits before carrying out the raid.
