San Marino’s national team is preparing to begin a stretch of official fixtures unlike anything it has faced before. The new UEFA Nations League format calls for four matches in just ten days: the run begins on Saturday, September 26, with a clash at the San Marino Stadium against Finland (kick-off 18:00, ticket info). It promises to be a memorable occasion, marking the Titans’ debut in UEFA Nations League League C, a promotion earned by finishing top of Group D1 in the previous edition ahead of Gibraltar and Liechtenstein.
Three days later, another home fixture awaits: on Tuesday, September 29, Albania will visit Serravalle (kick-off 20:45, ticket info), in a match expected to draw a strong following of visiting supporters. The national team will hold its official training session on the eve of the Finland match tomorrow, at 18:00 at the San Marino Stadium. Half an hour earlier, in the press room of the same venue, head coach Roberto Cevoli will meet with accredited media. Next Monday, meanwhile, the pre-match press conference ahead of San Marino-Albania will be held at 18:30, with the official training session set for 19:30.
Two away trips will follow: on October 3, the Biancazzurri will fly to Budapest to face Belarus on neutral ground. The demanding run will then conclude in Tirana, where Roberto Cevoli’s side will travel to face Albania.
Ahead of this dense schedule of fixtures, the head coach has called up 27 players for preparatory training sessions. From this group, the 23 who will be included in the official squad lists for the various UEFA Nations League matches on the calendar will be selected.
