Homes, terraces, courtyards and squares are transformed into small stages, erasing the distance between performers and audience. Artisti in Casa returns to Montegiardino on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September for its sixteenth edition, presented this morning at the headquarters of the Secretariat of State for Tourism.
The Republic’s smallest borgo will host a festival spread throughout its streets, in which visitors themselves build their own programme, wandering the lanes and choosing, moment by moment, which door to open. Behind one there might be a concert, behind another a theatrical performance, while courtyards and squares will host poetry, dance and performative painting.
Saturday’s programme features 26 micro-shows spanning live music, theatre, stand-up comedy, literature and visual arts. Among the announced performers are Chiara Raggi, Andrea Amati, Lorenzo Kruger and Max Biondi. The first day will close at 11.30pm with a concert by Duo Bucolico.
On Sunday the festival shifts gear with the Kids Edition, dedicated to children and families. From 2.30pm, the Castello will come alive with clowns, magic, illusionism, storytelling, karaoke and painting workshops. The event wraps up at 9pm.
“Artisti in Casa is a cultural offering of the highest calibre and a truly one-of-a-kind event, capable of showcasing the beauty of the Castello di Montegiardino and forging a genuine, special connection between artists and audiences,” says Secretary of State for Tourism Federico Pedini Amati. “Events held in the Castelli carry an extraordinary added value: they allow people to discover and experience the Republic through culture, art and shared participation.”
The festival is the result of a collaboration between the Giunta di Castello of Montegiardino, the Artisti in Casa cultural association and MarlĂą, with artistic direction by Antonio Ramberti and support from the Secretariat of Tourism. Food and beverage areas and exhibitor markets will be open on both days. Tickets are available in advance at artistincasa.it.
