San Marino Comics draws crowd of 50,000 over three days

Comics, cosplay and live shows filled San Marino's historic centre as the 2026 festival wrapped up with record attendance.

Around 50,000 visitors over three days, more than 200 events, 60 guests and organisations involved, and eight themed areas. These are the figures behind the 2026 edition of San Marino Comics, which from 28 to 30 August transformed the Republic’s historic centre into a vast hub dedicated to pop culture.

Comics, music, film, cosplay, gaming and live shows filled the three days of the festival, built this year around the theme “Press Play: imagination starts here”. This edition also featured quizzes, challenges, contests, parades and live games designed to actively engage the audience.

Among the international guests was Simone Legno, co-founder of the tokidoki brand, who visited Titano for the presentation of the postage stamp dedicated to “Libertas”, the San Marino mascot for Expo Osaka 2025 that he designed.

San Marino Comics 2026 has shown, through its excellent numbers, the strength of an event that has now become a fixture on the summer calendar of the Republic of San Marino: 50,000 visitors in three days, more than 200 events, over 60 guests and organisations involved, spread across 8 themed areas,” commented the Secretary of State for Tourism, Federico Pedini Amati.

The programme also focused on bringing together different generations and forms of expression, blending Star Trek, Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings with K-pop, cosplay, and digital social communities, alongside the television theme tunes that have accompanied generations of fans.

According to Pedini Amati, the figures “confirm that the festival has become a powerful driver of tourist attraction, capable of generating significant impact not only in terms of participation but also international visibility.”

San Marino Comics is organised by LEG Live Emotion Group and the San Marino Comics Association, under the patronage of the Secretariat of State for Tourism and in collaboration with various institutions and offices of the Republic.
