Positive showing for Maurizio Gobbi and Alfredo Torre Rossini at five-pin billiards World Championship in Argentina

San Marino's Maurizio Gobbi and Alfredo Torre Rossini both picked up two wins in tough groups at the world championship in Marcos Juárez.

The 27th World Championship of five-pin billiards has concluded in Marcos Juárez, Argentina.

San Marino was represented by Maurizio Gobbi and Alfredo Torre Rossini, who delivered a positive campaign despite facing tough groups. Both players secured two wins in their respective groups, with Alfredo Torre Rossini finishing 6th and Maurizio Gobbi 7th. The world title went to Italy’s Antonio La Manna.

“This result should be seen in light of the exceptionally high technical level of the competition: all four semi-finalists of the World Championship were drawn into the same two groups as our athletes. Three of them were in Gobbi’s group and one in Torre Rossini’s,” commented the San Marino Billiards Sports Federation. “This makes the journey undertaken by our representatives even more significant, as they had the opportunity to compete against some of the best players in the world. We want to congratulate Maurizio Gobbi and Alfredo Torre Rossini for representing San Marino at the highest international level. This was an important experience, one that leaves behind valuable know-how, greater confidence and the desire to keep improving.”
