The San Marino Championship returns, and the hunt for Tre Fiori is already underway, as the reigning champions look to defend the title they won last season. The 2026-27 tournament kicks off on Friday 28 August with four evening fixtures, ahead of another four matches spread across Saturday and Sunday. Taking centre stage on the opening weekend will be Virtus-La Fiorita, a rematch of last season’s playoff final.
Action gets underway on Friday at 9.15pm. In Acquaviva, Folgore, now led by new coach Matteo Camillini, will take on a heavily revamped Murata, while in Montecchio Cailungo will face Domagnano. The Lupi, coming off a season that saw them fall just short of the playoff final and European qualification, have overhauled their attack following the departure of Bonetti, bringing in players such as Arlotti and Ambrosini. Cailungo, meanwhile, have strengthened several areas of the squad and are aiming to establish themselves as outsiders for the title.
Also on Friday, San Marino Academy, coached by Nicola Cancelli, will face Fiorentino at the Stadio Crescentini. The blue-and-reds are starting the season with a largely overhauled squad and Francesco Monaco on the bench. In Dogana, meanwhile, it will be Juvenes Dogana against Faetano, with the hosts bolstered by the arrivals of experienced players such as Dormi, Lunadei and Montanari.
Saturday at 3pm brings two more fixtures. In Acquaviva, Cosmos will face Libertas, with both clubs now led by new coaches: Paolo Rossi for the yellow-and-greens and Achille Fabbri for the maroons. In Montecchio, meanwhile, it’s San Giovanni against Tre Penne. The white-and-blues are looking to build on last season’s remarkable comeback and get back in the title race, while San Giovanni begin a new era under Matteo Antonioli.
The champions of Tre Fiori take to the field on Sunday, when they face Pennarossa in Montecchio at 3pm. The white-and-reds from Chiesanuova have handed the bench to former national team coach Fabrizio Costantini and brought in players such as Belward, Abouzziane and the Evaristi brothers. Tre Fiori, for their part, have strengthened their attacking options with the additions of Ben Kacem and Mengucci.
At the same time, in Acquaviva, comes the big match between Virtus and La Fiorita. The black-and-greens are rebuilding under coach Oscar Muratori, with a revamped squad following several notable departures, including that of Scappini, replaced up front by Imre Badalassi.
La Fiorita, meanwhile, arrive still smarting from Tuesday’s Super Cup disappointment, a penalty shoot-out defeat to Tre Fiori, having fought back from 0-2 down to level at 2-2 despite playing for roughly an hour with a numerical disadvantage. Coach Stefano Ceci can call on last season’s top scorer, Matthias Bonetti, who also found the net in the Super Cup, along with the return of Errico in midfield.
The entire opening round will be broadcast live with Italian commentary on Titani.tv. Virtus-La Fiorita will also be available on FIFA+, which from this season is included within the DAZN bouquet, featuring the San Marino Championship and Coppa Titano with one match per round.
