It’s the eve of the 2026 San Marino Super Cup – a match that, as has been the case for several years now, marks the start of a new football season on Titan soil. Tomorrow evening at 8:45pm in Acquaviva – with temperatures and weather conditions decidedly different from the 2025 edition, which was played on 23 December – Tre Fiori and La Fiorita will be chasing the first trophy of the season. What we do know for certain is that, after Virtus’s dominance – having won the last three editions of the Super Cup – tomorrow evening a different team will be added to the roll of honour. Tre Fiori, who fell in last year’s edition against the Neroverdi, already have three titles in the cabinet (alongside as many editions of the Federal Trophy), while the Yellow-Blues of Montegiardino have only one, dating back to 2022.
It will be a replay of the 2025-26 Coppa Titano final – the last match of last season – with the exception that it will be played on the artificial turf at Acquaviva rather than at San Marino Stadium.
“I expect a hard-fought match,” said Danilo Girolomoni, Tre Fiori’s coach, during the presentation press conference, “because I know the opponents very well. La Fiorita have a great squad, further strengthened by this summer’s signings. They already beat us this year in the Coppa Titano final – in this kind of match, they’re definitely the toughest opponent to face.”
Alongside Girolomoni was Stefano Ceci, La Fiorita’s coach: “It will be the first match of the year, so it’s normal that we won’t be in top form straight away. The squad has changed a lot compared to last season, but the new arrivals have started pre-season very much on the right foot. It will be a balanced match, probably decided by a single moment.”
Alongside the two coaches, also present at the press conference were Matteo Prandelli and Gianluca Vivan. The former, Tre Fiori’s top scorer, holds his counterpart at La Fiorita – now in his umpteenth season between the posts for the Yellow-Blues – in high regard: “Gianluca is a great friend, he’s the one who brought me here to San Marino, I owe him a lot. We’re among the most experienced players, and that can help within our respective dressing rooms. It will be a great battle, and I hope it ends differently from the last few times.”
Experience and the many matches played are also a factor for Vivan: “I believe figures like ours are useful within the dressing room. I put in as much effort as I can for the team, and then it’s up to my teammates to respond accordingly. Tre Fiori are a top-level side, I can’t really pick a favourite.”
Girolomoni and Ceci will also have to deal with four suspended players, two on each side: among the Yellow-Blue champions of San Marino, Rea and Sirri will be unavailable, while the Montegiardino club will be without Guidi and Semprini. The match kicks off in Acquaviva at 8:45pm (free admission), with live streaming on Titani.tv and San Marino RTV.
