An emergency unfolded on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 19, at Rimini’s Federico Fellini airport. An easyJet Airbus A319, which had taken off from the Romagna airport bound for London Gatwick, was forced to turn back shortly after departure due to a suspected engine fault.
The captain alerted air traffic control to the problem, triggering emergency protocols. Ambulances, rescue vehicles and emergency personnel were dispatched to the airport as a precaution.
The aircraft landed safely shortly after 5pm, with no consequences. About 140 passengers were on board, and no injuries or other issues were reported.
The plane was subsequently subjected to the technical checks needed to determine the cause of the fault.
