Summer is drawing to a close, but for San Marino the issue of increasingly high temperatures remains firmly on the agenda. Secretary of State for Territory Matteo Ciacci took stock of the measures adopted so far and those planned for the coming years in an interview with San Marino RTV.
Among the initiatives already underway is a decree on urban depaving, which provides incentives for projects aimed at removing concrete surfaces and replacing them with green areas and new plantings.
«We have already taken action,» Ciacci told San Marino RTV, «for instance, for the first time we now have a decree on urban depaving.» According to the secretary, the measure provides financial support to those who choose to reduce concrete in favour of greenery. At the same time, other public and private projects are moving forward.
The issue also extends to the workplace, where specific measures have already been introduced to protect workers during periods of intense heat.
Water represents another key focus. Looking ahead to future summers, the Republic is working to strengthen its water supply through a series of interventions, including the expansion of the Torello reservoir and other structural projects.
Finally, there is the matter of public buildings. Among the issues raised by Ciacci is the installation of air conditioning in schools, with particular attention to spaces used for summer camps, alongside necessary upgrades to other public administration facilities.
