The signing of the Association Agreement between San Marino, Andorra and the European Union will be available to watch via live streaming on the European Commission’s official audiovisual platform. The ceremony is scheduled for Monday, October 19, 2026, at 1 p.m., at the Berlaymont, the Commission’s headquarters in Brussels.
Signing the Agreement on behalf of the Republic will be Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Luca Beccari, while Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič will sign for the European Commission. A press meeting is planned afterward, with remarks from both officials.
The broadcast will allow the public to witness the signing even from San Marino. “An opportunity for the entire San Marino community to be present, even remotely, at a moment that belongs to the whole country,” the statement reads. “Thanks to the live broadcast, citizens, families, young people, businesses and institutions will be able to watch the signing in real time, sharing in the emotion and significance of a milestone reached after years of work, commitment and determination.”
The process dates back to 2014, when the European Union recognized San Marino as a partner with which to build a closer, more structured relationship. Negotiations formally began in 2015. As for the content of the Agreement, the statement specifies: “The Agreement opens up the prospect of San Marino’s full participation in the European internal market, with new opportunities for citizens, workers and businesses, while respecting the Republic’s identity, prerogatives and sovereignty.”
Beccari accompanied the announcement with an invitation to follow the ceremony: “On Monday we are not just signing an agreement: we are signing San Marino’s future in Europe. This is the result of the work of many people and of a country that has chosen to play a leading role. I hope many San Marino citizens will be able to follow the ceremony live and feel part of this moment — this achievement belongs to the entire San Marino community.”
