Three new philatelic issues to celebrate entrepreneurship, history and animal welfare commitment in San Marino. Poste San Marino presents the stamps arriving in the week of 19 to 22 October, dedicated respectively to Titancoop’s 50th anniversary, to key episodes of San Marino’s modern history, and to the 40th anniversary of the San Marino Animal Protection Association (Associazione Protezione Animali Sammarinese, APAS).
It all begins on Monday, 19 October, with the “Eccellenze Sammarinesi” (San Marino Excellence) series, launched in 2024 to showcase the country’s leading businesses. This edition’s protagonist is Titancoop, which in 2026 will mark half a century of service to its members and the community.
For the occasion, a work by artist Alice Pasquini titled “Oltre” (“Beyond”) has been chosen. The stamp depicts a young woman gazing toward the horizon, with the First Tower in the background – an image evoking both a connection to San Marino’s roots and a forward-looking vision. The stamp has a face value of 95 cents, with a print run of 20,000 copies.
On Tuesday, 20 October, attention turns to San Marino’s history, with four stamps dedicated to the modern era, created by artist Cristian Ceccaroni.
The images trace four defining moments in the Republic’s history: the attempted invasions of the 16th century, the introduction of new Statutes in the 17th century, the occupation by Cardinal Giulio Alberoni, and relations with a young Napoleon Bonaparte.
What makes this issue particularly distinctive is its link between philately and digital storytelling. Each sheet includes a QR code that allows listeners to access an episode of the podcast “Storia in Flanella” (“History in Flannel”), in which Giuseppe Giardi guides audiences through the events of San Marino’s past.
The full series is collected in the album “Frammenti di Storia Sammarinese” (“Fragments of San Marino History”), with texts by historian Verter Casali. The sheet includes four stamps worth €1.85 each, with a print run of 20,000 copies.
Finally, on Thursday, 22 October, a stamp will be issued to mark the 40th anniversary of APAS, the association that has worked to protect animals in San Marino since 1986.
Over four decades of activity, APAS has helped promote laws against animal cruelty and abandonment, worked to prevent stray animal populations, and supported the introduction of a canine registry. The association has also backed the ban on euthanasia for stray and roaming dogs, as well as measures to protect wildlife.
Since 1992, APAS has also managed the Faetano Shelter, a key reference point for the care and housing of animals in need.
The commemorative stamp, designed by Viola Diletta Felici, depicts a dog and a cat, symbols of the association’s work. This stamp also carries a face value of 95 cents, with a print run of 15,000 copies.
All three issues will be available from their respective release dates through the Poste San Marino website and at the Philatelic and Numismatic Shop at Piazzetta Garibaldi 5, in the historic centre of the Republic.
