Nearly 323,000 passengers in the first seven months of 2026, marking a 39% increase compared to last year. These are the figures for Rimini’s Federico Fellini airport, which continues to gain ground on the national stage and, above all, against other airports in the Adriatic area.
According to data from Assaeroporti, the Fellini airport handled 322,990 passengers between January and July. In percentage terms, only Comiso and Pescara performed better. The growth was also driven by an increase in flight connections following the Emilia-Romagna Region’s decision to scrap a municipal surcharge.
The real leap forward came with summer. In June, 99,872 passengers passed through Rimini, a rise of 65.4%, while July recorded 112,271 travelers, up 70.2% compared to the same month in 2025.
These figures are allowing Fellini airport to rapidly close the gap on Ancona and Perugia, which stood at around 345,000 and 376,000 passengers respectively over the first seven months. Rimini is achieving these volumes with just 3,376 flight movements, compared to over 6,000 recorded in Ancona.
Emilia-Romagna’s other smaller airports lag further behind: Parma recorded 84,311 passengers (-8.7%), while Forlì stopped at 51,930 (-20.2%).
The issue of seasonality, however, remains unresolved. More than a third of the traffic accumulated by Fellini airport in the first seven months was concentrated in July alone. After the strong summer rebound, the next challenge will be to consolidate connections and passenger numbers during the winter months as well.
