Apple is taking to the streets of San Marino to update its digital maps. In the coming days, specially equipped cars and operators carrying dedicated backpacks will travel across the territory, gathering images and data for Apple Maps.
For the vehicle-based surveys, the schedule published by the company points to September 3 and 4, 2026. In areas not accessible by car, operators on foot will step in, equipped with portable systems and backpacks fitted with mapping equipment.
The data collected will be used to update and refine the representation of San Marino and to improve services such as “Look Around,” which lets users explore streets and locations through panoramic imagery.
Apple also notes that faces and license plates are blurred in the published images to protect privacy. Residents will also have the option to request that their homes be obscured.
