“If you don’t come home, your life will be hell.” This is one of the threats a twenty-year-old woman and her boyfriend allegedly received after she decided to leave her family home and move in with him. At the heart of the case is the parents’ reported refusal to accept their daughter’s relationship with a young man who is not Muslim.
The case has landed before the Rimini Prosecutor’s Office, which is investigating the 44-year-old father and 47-year-old mother, both of Macedonian origin, on charges of stalking and making threats.
According to the reconstruction of events, the young woman — who reportedly did not share her family’s strict religious rules — had chosen to move in with her partner, who is the same age. Her parents allegedly opposed the decision insistently, trying repeatedly to convince her to return home.
From that point on, the couple reportedly faced constant pressure, accompanied by intimidating messages. Among them was the phrase: “I can find you even if you go to the moon.” The fear felt by the two twenty-year-olds is said to have grown steadily, eventually prompting them to turn to the Rimini police headquarters and file a formal complaint.
The case file also includes a more serious episode dating back to last May. According to reconstructions, the father and mother allegedly entered the building where the couple lives and waited for them to return. Upon their arrival, an altercation is said to have broken out, with the parents allegedly attempting to attack the couple with kicks and punches.
The couple reportedly managed to break free, reaching their apartment and locking themselves inside until police arrived.
It will now be up to investigators to verify the full account of events and establish responsibility. The investigation is being coordinated by public prosecutor Davide Ercolani.
