A day without competitions for the San Marino delegation at the Mediterranean Games. Between arrivals and departures, the event has now reached its halfway point. Yesterday, Nicole Conti arrived in Taranto together with her horse Jappeloup, along with track and field athletes Alessandra Gasparelli, Alessandro Gasperoni and Francesco Sansovini, who trained today ahead of their debut, set for Sunday. It was also a morning of work for San Marino’s table tennis team, who will return to action tomorrow in the mixed doubles tournament with the pairing of Mattias Mongiusti and Chiara Morri.
Silvia Alletti set off for home this morning together with the national skeet shooting team, after being eliminated last night in the round of 16 of the women’s singles tennis draw. The young San Marino athlete faced eighth seed Vittoria Paganetti and put up a strong fight in every game, but was ultimately defeated 6-3, 6-4.
THE CAPTAINS REGENT VISIT THE AROYA SHIP YESTERDAY
Present at the competition venues in recent days to support the athletes, yesterday evening the Captains Regent, Their Excellencies Alice Mina and Vladimiro Selva, also visited the delegation aboard the Aroya ship, the Village hosting athletes at the Mediterranean Games. It was a further show of support for the sporting movement from San Marino’s institutions.
