Fourteen doses of cocaine, already packaged and ready for sale, hidden inside his underwear. That is what officers from the San Marino Civil Police discovered during an anti-drug operation that led to the arrest, caught in the act, of a 35-year-old Albanian citizen holding an Italian residence permit.
The operation took place on 24 August, following an investigation and a series of targeted patrols carried out by the Civil Police’s Intelligence and Investigation Unit.
According to the police force, the man was found in an industrial area of San Marino, where he was presumably waiting for customers to arrive. Officers intervened and searched both the 35-year-old and the vehicle he was using.
It was then that they discovered 14 doses of cocaine, already divided and packaged for dealing, which the man had hidden inside his underwear. The drugs were immediately seized. Alongside the narcotics, investigators also found and confiscated a substantial sum of cash, believed by authorities to be proceeds from drug dealing.
During the same operation, police also identified what they describe as a potential Sammarinese buyer, born in 1992. The man tested positive for cocaine and was reported to authorities. He also had his driving licence revoked.
Investigations further revealed that the Albanian citizen had been frequently present in the territory of the Republic without any plausible reason. Following his arrest, the man was taken to prison, where he remains at the disposal of San Marino’s judicial authorities.
The operation is not yet over. The Civil Police are continuing their investigation with the aim of reconstructing the drug-dealing network and identifying both the suppliers and any potential customers connected to the arrested man.
