There were tense moments late yesterday afternoon along the Sottomontana road, between Borgo Maggiore and Murata, when a car was suddenly engulfed in flames.
The driver managed to get out of the vehicle and reach safety, immediately raising the alarm. He was not injured in the incident.
Officers from the Fire Section of the Civil Police (Polizia Civile) responded to the scene, extinguishing the blaze and securing both the car and the roadway.
The Sottomontana road remained closed to traffic for about two hours, the time needed to complete operations and allow the Civil Police to carry out their investigations.
