A maximum of three hours’ parking and a mandatory parking disc will now apply to the spaces closest to the State Hospital (Ospedale di Stato) in San Marino. The rules are changing for parking areas P5 and P7, located in front of the main entrance and the building housing specialist outpatient clinics.
The change affects around 70 parking spaces, where the time limit will apply Monday to Friday, on working days. The aim is to prevent cars from staying parked for too long, freeing up more space for those who need to reach the hospital for appointments, tests or other healthcare services.
The restrictions will not apply to the multi-storey car parks, the area at the rear of the hospital along Via la Toscana, spaces reserved for people with motor disabilities, or pink parking spaces for pregnant women.
The decision, promoted by the Secretariat of State for Health, was agreed with the Social Security Institute (Istituto per la Sicurezza Sociale), the Civil Police and the State Agency for Public Works (Azienda Autonoma di Stato per i Lavori Pubblici), which has already installed the necessary signage.
“This new regulation,” explains the Secretary of State for Health, Massimo Andrea Ugolini, “stems from the need to make it easier for people to access the State Hospital for appointments, tests or other medical services.”
The new rules will be trialled for six months, after which the results will be reviewed and a decision made on whether to confirm the measure permanently.
An information campaign for patients and healthcare staff is also planned, with explanatory materials to be distributed both inside and outside the hospital.
